
International Studies Program – Spanish Language Track
This Spanish language program is a collaborative initiative between Miami-Dade County Public Schools and the Ministry of Education of Spain. As part of this rigorous academic curriculum, students enrolled in the International Studies Program (ISP) receive instruction in Spanish, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science in Spanish.
Elementary School (Grades 1–5):
Students in grades 1 through 5 participate in an extended instructional day, receiving an additional hour and fifteen minutes of instruction in Spanish four days per week. Subjects taught include Spanish Language Arts, Humanities, Mathematics, and Science.
Middle School (Grades 6–8):
Middle school students take International Studies courses as part of their regular school schedule. The curriculum includes instruction in Spanish Language Arts, Mathematics, and Humanities, all taught in Spanish. These courses are designed to further develop students’ academic proficiency and fluency in the Spanish language. Students in the International Studies track will take College Board AP Spanish Language Arts and Culture in the 8th grade.
This advanced program prepares students to pursue the International Studies Diploma through an accredited International Studies High School curriculum.
Our school maintains a strong partnership with the Ministry of Education of Spain which provides ongoing support for our curriculum. We are also proud to host visiting educators from Spain who bring cultural and academic expertise to our classrooms.
Eligibility Requirements for the International Studies Program:
1. A recommendation from the student’s current Spanish teacher is required. 2. Students must pass an entrance examination.
3. Sibling applicants are not guaranteed admission; they must also meet all eligibility criteria and pass the entrance exam.
4. Admission is subject to space availability.
